Our School Holds a Meeting with School of Pharmacy, University of Otago, New Zealand

On the morning of October 13, Prof. Yao Hequan, CPU Vice President and Dean of our school, welcomed Prof. Carlo Marra, Dean of the School of Pharmacy of the University of Otago, New Zealand, and his delegation. Otago University delegation was invited to participate in the Second Global Symposium on the Development of Pharmacy Schools hosted by CPU. Vice Dean Wu Zhaoqiu, Sun Chunmeng, Head of the Department of Pharmacy, Han Sifei, Associate Researcher of the Department of Pharmacology, Pan Rongjie, Deputy Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation of the University, as well as Natalie Hughes, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Arlene McDowell, Director of the Office of Undergraduate Pharmacy Education of Otago University, and Hu Zhang, Director of the New Zealand-China Collaborating Centre for Research on Non-Communicable Diseases all took part in the meeting.

Vice President Yao Hequan firstly delivered a warm welcome to Dean Carlo Marra and his delegation. Again, Dean Carlo Marra congratulated on the successful convening of this symposium, and reviewed the cooperation and exchanges between the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Otago and the pharmacy schools in China. Subsequently, Associate Researcher Han Sifei, Associate Dean Natalie Hughes and Director Arlene McDowell introduced the profiles of the schools and colleges of both sides, as well as the basic situation of professional characteristics, enrollment scale, curriculum, faculty, and scientific research cooperation. Director Hu Zhang introduced the overview of New Zealand-China Cooperative Centre for Research on Non-communicable Diseases, scientific research cooperation, academic exchanges and so on. The two sides also had in-depth discussions on topics of common interest, such as exchange of teachers and visits, joint training of students and mutual recognition of credits. Finally, Vice President Yao Hequan and Dean Carlo Marra jointly expressed that they would set up a designated communication channel to further promote the cooperation between the two sides at school and university level.
